Thanks to Jenny for letting me know about a new online video education site featuring course lectures from some of the nation’s best colleges. Academic Earth is an exciting new site that seems to be on track to fill the void between iTunes U and YouTube. Combining the best of both worlds in a clean (and ad-free) design, Academic Earth boasts features such as download to iPod, links to course documents such as notes, quizzes, and assignments, and each video even contains citation information! Furthermore, all videos are fairly high quality and play smoothly for the most part. Register for a free account and save videos to your ‘favorites’ list.
So far, there are only a handful of participating universities, but content is neatly organized by University, Subject, Professor or Playlist.
Check our some of the current content hosted on Academic Earth:
- Political Science: Thomas L. Friedman – The World is Flat 3.0
- Entrepreneurship: Five Critical SkillsThat Entrepreneurs Need
- Various Subjects Playlist: First Day of Freshman Year
- Physics: Fundamentals of Physics
